Quantum Nonlocality,
Foundations & Information

Where one seeks a quantum leap in our understanding of the world

Welcome to the research group of Quantum Nonlocality, Foundations & Information based at the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan,  Taiwan (Republic of China)

We live in an exciting period where we witness exciting developments in theoretical physics and their confirmations from a vast range of increasingly sophisticated experiments. Among these stands quantum theory - one of the pillars of modern physics - which is not particularly intuitive but gives predictions that stand through numerous experimental tests. While one who insists on having an intuitive understanding of the world around us might see these counterintuitive features as a nuisance, the latter turns out to play also an important part in the still burgeoning field of quantum information, thereby leading us to the so-called 2nd quantum revolution.

The modest goal of this research group is to make progress, bit by bit, toward our understanding of quantum theory, or more precisely, the world depicted by this amazingly successful theory. In doing so, we hope to identify the physical principles ( rather than the rules ) that actually underlie our physical world, as well as the limitations they set on our understanding of the world and the benefits they may bring to our daily lives in the form of novel technologies.

Postdoctoral positions
The Quantum Information and Communications Thematic Group of the National Center for Theoretical Sciences, Taiwan may be hiring postdoctoral researcher(s) to work on topics pertinent to quantum information and communications. These independent postdocs will surely get to interact regularly with us. Interested candidates should submit his/ her application here and email ycliang @mail.ncku.edu.tw after that.
Graduate students
Highly motivated students, local or abroad, are always welcome . However, if you happen to come from abroad and are interested to work with me as a Ph.D. student, please note that you have to first get admission to NCKU  before I can hire you, so please check out this before contacting me.
Short-term research/ interns
While we also welcome interns, please note that we do not have any funding that can be used to pay for any short-term research.
